Yacht Racing off Cape Cod, Vernon Broe (American 1930-2011), oil on board A fine example of Vernon Broe work depicting a yacht race off Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Broe's marine opaintings, like this one are in a realistic, impressionist style. Signature: signed lower right- Vern Brow. Dimensions: Frame: 25 3/4 inches high x 35 3/4 inches wide x 1 3/4 inches deep; Board 20 1/4 inches high x 30 inches wide). Vernon Broe (American 1930-2011) 1930 - Western Springs, Illinois Died: 2011 - Richmond, Maine A noted Northeastern artist of marine and still life paintings, he studied at the American Academy of Art, the University of Illinois, Chicago's Institute of Design, and the San Francisco Art Institute. His marine paintings are in a realistic, impressionist style. Broe moved to Maine where he lived and painted until his passing in 2011. His artwork has appeared in the American Artist, and other magazines, including three covers for Yankee Magazine. Broe is cobnsidered one of the most noted marine artists in the Northeast, having painted scenes of Maine and Massachusetts. (Ref: NY10490-iamr)
