Marcus Tremonto, the internationally recognized light artist and founder of Treluce Studios, has carved out a singular place in contemporary art through his ability to treat light as both material and metaphor.
His sculptural installations—rooted in his background in mathematics, physics, and fine art—push illumination beyond function, transforming it into a spatial, emotional, and narrative medium. This deep technical and conceptual engagement with light directly informs the his photographic work.
Through his passion in photography, Tremonto treats the camera as an extension of his sculptural practice, constructing images in which light becomes the subject, the brushstroke, and the architecture of the frame.
His photographs often reveal the hidden geometries, reflections, and temporal qualities.

Treluce NYC
Marcus Tremonto occupies a rare position in contemporary art and design: an artist who does not merely use light but thinks with it. His practice, rooted in decades of experimentation with electroluminescent materials, carbon fiber, and sculptural form, has evolved into a body of work that treats light as both medium and message. Tremonto’s studio, Treluce Studios n.y.c — founded in 2002 with his partner Monica Tremonto — has become a laboratory for reimagining how illumination can shape perception, emotion, and spatial experience. Tremonto is often described as an artist who “draws with light,” a phrase that captures both the delicacy and precision of his approach. This idea — that light can be drawn, carved, or folded — remains central to his practice. Tremonto’s works often appear as lines suspended in space, glowing ribbons, or geometric constellations. They evoke the sensation of a gesture captured mid‑air, a moment of motion frozen in luminescent form. Marcus Tremonto’s photographic style can be understood as a parallel practice to his sculptural work — a way of observing the world through the lens of illumination. Where his studio pieces manipulate light directly, his photography documents the ways light already shapes our surroundings. It is a study of reflection, diffusion, and the subtle interplay between natural and built environments. Treluce’s projects have been featured in major exhibitions, internationally in color exhibitions, museums and group shows.
