About the Item
A very engaging, quite erotic, unique, and alluring work by famed Japanese photographer and contemporary artist Nobuyoshi Araki featuring a woman/geisha in bondage - a subject matter Araki was quite fascinated with and well known for during the height of his career. These authentic provocative and sexualized images of submissive women bound by rope are now rare and hard to find.
This original, somewhat controversial, one-of-a-kind polaroid photographic print is hand-signed in marker in the lower front margin by Araki. Thus relatively rare. It also comes with a authentication certificate letter (COA) from Norton Gallery in Tokyo.
A special and engaging work. Would be a great addition to any modern contemporary photography or art collection or admirers of Araki's work.
Araki's work can be found in many prominent collections and museums including:
Israel Museum, Jerusalem
Tate, London, UK
San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA, USA

View AllNobuyoshi Araki Signed Limited Edition Sexual Desire Portfolio I Complete Set

A very engaging and alluring set of fifteen photographs by famed controversial Japanese photographer and contemporary artist Nobuyoshi Araki from his 2000 highly sexually charged Sexual Desire Portfolio I. This limited edition portfolio (only 30 in total were published) comprises the complete set (quite rare as few complete sets exist today) of fifteen offset prints on watercolor paper and is published by Taka Ishii Editions, Tokyo. Kaoru Kawano Signed Large Japanese Woodblock Print Dancing Geisha Figure Eshima
By Kaoru Kawano
Located in Studio City, CA
A beautiful work by famed Japanese artist Kaoru Kawano who was known for his whimsical portrayals of women, children, and animals. Stylistically, he was one of the first Japanese artists to combine Western-style elements with the traditional methods of woodblock printmaking. This work is known as "Dancing Figure (Eshima)"
The print is signed (in white ink within the image) and sealed (in red) by Kawano.
This work is a quite rare self-printed lifetime double dai Oban large-size print. The quality and colors are striking. It is likely from a limited edition and perhaps numbered on the lower margin (we can not verify as it was previously framed but we are confident that this is the case).
A very beautiful and rich image. Would make for a great addition to any Japanese art and print collection or Stand-out accent work in about any setting.
Frame dimensions: 30.5" high, 20.5" wide, .5" deep

Nobuyoshi Araki (Tokyo, 1940) is a Tokyo-based photographer. Araki completed his studies at Chiba University’s Department of Photography, Painting and Engineering with a focus on the study of film and photography. His photographic project Satchin earned him the prestigious Taiyo Award in 1964, shortly after he had joined the advertising agency Dentsu, where he worked until 1972. At Dentsu he met his wife Yoko, to whom he paid homage in Sentimental Journey, a photographic record of their honeymoon published in 1971. Eros and thanatos (sex and death) has been a central theme in Araki’s work; an abiding fascination with female genitalia and women’s bodies in Japanese bondage...
