About the Item

Enhance a game room, exercise room, or gallery wall with this vibrant late 19th-century French advertising poster for Cycles Andru. Created circa 1890 by the artist Dourzinelle, this striking stone lithograph captures the elegance and optimism of the Belle Époque. At center, an exquisitely dressed woman pauses with her bicycle, clutching a bouquet of yellow roses, while a winding country road and distant village unfold behind her. The blend of graceful lines, soft atmospheric shading, and bold typographic design is characteristic of the finest French poster art of the era. Professionally linen-backed, the poster has been conserved using the industry’s preferred archival method. Original advertising lithographs of this period were printed on delicate paper intended for temporary outdoor display. Linen-backing stabilizes the artwork, preserves its value, and allows it to be framed or hung safely. Stone-lithograph posters were produced in limited numbers, often only 2,000 to 3,000 impressions, and surviving examples are those spared from outdoor use. This framed Cycles Andru poster is a wonderfully preserved piece of Belle Époque commercial art, ideal for collectors, cycling enthusiasts, or anyone seeking a large-scale decorative statement. In excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 48.75" W x 65" H.
