Poster for the promotion of Gypsy Cigarettes, we see a woman smoking a cigarette with a cigarette holder. She is holding a packet of Gypsy Cigarettes in her other hand. The poster is divided into three colors, yellow, blue and green.
Gitanes is a brand of cigarettes produced by Seita, a subsidiary of the Imperial Brands group, created in 1910 at the same time as the Gauloises brand.
In 2014, part of its production was relocated to Poland following the closure of the Seita plant in Nantes.
The first Gitanes packages were designed in 1927 by Maurice Giot. This one represents Spanish symbols like the tambourine, a fan, and oranges.
During the Second World War, the gypsy dancer embodies the brand, she and her large dress are designed by A. Molusson. The concept was taken up by Max Ponty...

As noted by Sim Brannaghan in his 2006 book on 'British Film Posters,' the Beauvais design strips "the film down to its basic elements of cop, the car & the road". Set in a bleak dystopian near-future Australia veering towards societal collapse due to critical petrol shortages, the influential film starred a little-known Mel Gibson in the titular role as a police officer turned vigilante when his family are murdered by a sadistic biker gang. The Gladiator Cycles company, then Gladiator-Clément (1896) is a French company manufacturing cycles and automobiles established in Pré-Saint-Gervais between 1891 and 1920. In 1895, Gladiator produced its first motorized tricycle whose combustion was based of naphtha. In 1896, Adolphe Clément, Charles Chetwynd-Talbot, and Harry John Lawson, associated with Harvey du Cros, owner of Dunlop, take stakes in the company and undertake to create a conglomerate.
René Leverd is a French watercolourist, poster artist and illustrator. He received a silver medal at the Salon des artistes français of 1891, and many other awards in the salons.

In the late 19th century, following the advent of text-heavy posters printed from woodblocks for use in taverns and shop windows, hand-drawn poster art had become commonplace in regions such as France, England and the United States. Well-known illustrators were commissioned to produce decorative posters to advertise political campaigns, theatrical events, books, household goods and other items. Early poster artists used a printmaking technique called lithography, which sees drawings or paintings created on a stone (or metal) surface with an oil-based substance, such as a greasy crayon or tusche (an oily wash). The image is eventually affixed to the surface by means of a chemical reaction, and ink adheres to certain sections of the surface while non–image areas are made to repel the ink.
If you wanted a color lithograph in the early days, the number of stones prepared had to match the number of colors you commissioned for the poster. French painter Jules Chéret, widely known as the father of the modern poster, designed some of history's most popular lithographic posters that featured color. Today, Chéret’s art is highly collectible, along with original works by Czech painter and decorative artist Alphonse Mucha, whose posters advertising theatrical productions helped define Art Nouveau.
Over time, poster artists transitioned to more advanced techniques. Using silkscreens, woodblocks and photolithography, painters and illustrators printed larger quantities at a faster rate.

A practical conservation method is to have the work mounted on archival, acid-free paper and thin artist’s canvas, then enclosing it in a sturdy frame.
