The Basilica of Vézelay is a 12th-century Romanesque basilica located in Burgundy. The artist chose to open the basilica's doors here, giving us a glimpse of the interior as well as the tympanum overlooking the central door, which features Christ in Majesty.
Charles-Jean Hallo (1882-1969), aka ALO is a painter, draftsman, illustrator, engraver and photographer.
His favorite themes are landscapes (tourist sites) and animals (hunting scenes) but his involvement in aviation has led him to also produce advertising gouaches representing aircraft published in L'Aérophile.
