Additional Details:
In 1922, Jules Dransy invented the character “Nectar” inspired by Mr. Le Paven, deliveryman for Maison Nicolas. He holds 16 bottles of wine in each of his hands, wears a mustache and has duck feet. It quickly became the emblem of the brand.
The Vins Nicolas brand was created in Paris in 1822 by Louis Nicolas. He was the first to launch the sale and delivery of bottled wine to individuals.
Boutique openings grew quickly, reaching 45 in 1900 and 138 in 1919.
Dransy, whose real name is Jules Isnard, is a Swiss poster designer born in 1883 and died in 1945. He is best known for this poster of Nicolas wines, and for the posters of Martial sugared almonds and Lustucru pasta.
