Original French film poster for the landmark, 1939 film starring Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh and directed by Victor Fleming, George Cukor and Sam Wood. Original pieces on this legendary title are highly sort after by collectors. Following the publication of Margaret Mitchell's best-selling novel, the competition to obtain screen rights for its cinematic adaptation was ferocious and the creation of the screenplay a massive task undertaken by several writers including F. Scott Fitzgerald. The result was an unprecedented commercial success, a staggering representation of Hollywood glamour of the 1930s which overwhelmed audiences with lavish sets and costumes.
Roger Soubie (1898-1984) designed this beautiful poster for the films re-release in France in 1953 the film did not get release in France due to the war until 1951. This poster is conservation linen backed and it would be shiped by Fed-Ex rolled in a very strong tube.
