About the Item
Original poster for the exhibition of Spanish sculptor Miguel Berrocal (1933–2006), a key figure in 20th-century sculptural art. This graphic piece announces the show held at Sala Unicaja "Italcable" from April 14 to June 11, presumably during the 1990s. The design features a vibrant blue background with a structural line drawing of one of his iconic disassemblable sculptures.
Printed on thin satin paper, this poster captures part of Berrocal’s visual legacy and his ability to synthesize art, mathematics, and mechanics into graphic form. It shows two perforations at the lower edge and some visible signs of wear, reinforcing its authenticity as a period exhibition artifact. Ideal for collectors of Spanish contemporary art or lovers of vintage exhibition graphics.

Miguel Berrocal
Miguel Ortiz Berrocal was a renowned Spanish artist, born on September 28, 1933, in Villanueva de Algaidas, Spain, and passed away on May 31, 2006, in Antequera, Spain. He left an indelible mark on the world of contemporary sculpture, especially through his complex and innovative works. Berrocal studied at the School of Fine Arts in Malaga and the School of Fine Arts in Paris, where he was influenced by artists such as Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. His work stood out for its unique approach to sculpture, combining traditional art with modern technology. He is best known for his modular sculptures in bronze, aluminum, and resin, which could be disassembled into numerous pieces, encouraging viewers to actively engage in their understanding and appreciation. Berrocal created iconic pieces such as "La Minotaura" (1964) and "La Comédie Humaine" (1967), which were exhibited worldwide and received critical acclaim. His passion for geometry, mechanics, and enigma is reflected in his work, challenging the boundaries of traditional sculpture. Apart from his sculptures, Miguel Ortiz Berrocal was also a musician, composer, and writer. He collaborated with artists like Joan Baez and published works on art and philosophy. Throughout his life, Berrocal received numerous awards and accolades for his contribution to contemporary art, and his work continues to influence many artists and collectors worldwide. His ability to merge technical precision with artistic creativity made him a prominent figure in the 20th-century art scene, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the world of sculpture and contemporary art.
