Description
Rare original French Art Nouveau poster, designed by Adolphe Léon Willette (1857–1926) and published in Paris in 1915.
The poster was created for the national fundraising day “Journée du Poilu” on 25–26 December 1915, organized to support French soldiers at the front during World War I.
The motif, with the caption “Enfin seuls…!” (“At last alone!”), depicts a French soldier on Christmas leave, finally able to embrace his wife – a touching and period-typical image reflecting both the hardships and hopes of wartime.
