Victor Moscoso was among the most gifted and influential artists to emerge from the '60s counterculture, pioneering not only the psychedelic concert poster designs made famous during San Francisco's Summer of Love, but also making his mark in underground comix. Jugend is a weekly artistic and literary magazine created by Georg Hirth and published between 1896 and 1940 in Munich. One of the particularities of this periodical is that the cover changes with each issue. The designer thereby illustrates the concept of youth (Jugend in German). Early artists included: Otto Eckmann, Ernst Barlach, Lovis Corinth, and of course Josef Rudolf Witzel.
Jugend is linked to the term “Jugendstil”, which corresponds to the German expression of Art Nouveau.
