About the Item

Original Italian film poster for White Heat, 1949. This film was directed by Raoul Walsh, and stars James Cagney, Virginia Mayo and Edmond O'Brien. Cagney was synonymous with gangster roles as he had played these parts since Public Enemy in 1931. He gives a great portrayal as the gangster as 'Cody' Jarrett, with his memorable line 'made it Ma, top of the world!' The fabulous artwork on this poster is by the renowned Italian artist Luigi Martinati (1893-1984) This poster was folded after printing as were all the Italian posters of this age. This poster was designed for the first Italian release in 1950. This poster has been conservation linen backed and would be shipped rolled in a strong tube by Federal Express.
