About the Item

This is a stunning set of 4 Greek Architectural steel engraved plates printed in 1850 with Olive colour hand cut mount with hand painted Gold line and professionally framed in 2014 in solid fruitwood frame, with framers stamp and detail labels on the back The paper is naturally ages and of creamy beige colour not as bright as the main photos - please see the last two images for a closer colour representation. It is very hard to photograph as the engraving prints are framed with glass to protect them - but the paper colour is not white, much more beige and darker in the corners of the mount where its aged over the last 174 years The set includes: Plate 3 Architectural elevations and plans or the Temple of Erectheus, with Column capital details belonging to the Vestibule of Eleusis. And in the bottom left corner the plan and elevation of the Octagonal Tower of Andronicus Cyrrhestes at Athens Plate 4 Column Base and Capital Details of two Ionic and two Corinthian styles, from the Temple of Minerva Polias at Athens, the Temple of Llyfsus, the Octagon Tower of Andronicus Cyrrhestes and the Choragic Monument of Lysierates. With part of the door and window details of the Temple of Minerva Polias in the centre Plate 6 Detailed and intricately measured Column Capital details of the Compostie Capital from the Arch of Titus, Composite Capital from the Baths of Dioclesian, Corinthian Colum from the Portico of the Patheon, Corinthian Column from the Temple of Jupiter Stator, Corinthian Column from the facade of Nero, with a Quarter plan of Capital of the Temple of Jupiter Stator in the centre and Soffit detail from the same Temple in the bottom right corner Plate 7 At the top the Elevation of the South front of Dioclesian's Palace at Spalatro, Plan of the ancient Basilica of St Peter at Rome, and elevation and plan of Sag Sophia at Constantinople. And at the bottom the elevation and plan of the triumphal Arch at Constantine and the plan of Dioclesian's Palace at Spalatro We have photographed these to the best of our ability but please do ask for any more close ups or details as you require
