Francis Grose entered the army early in life and served in the cavalry, infantry, and militia.He had a profound knowledge of antiquities and spent the greater part of his life collecting them. He produced some absolutely fascinating and attractive engravings on subjects such as ancient artillery, fortification, armor and weapons. Collectors of rare prints will know how hard it is to find engravings like these. This piece is framed in a museum quality black wood frame with archival and acid free matting.
