About the Item

Antique costume print including many different costumes including costumes of Paris, Amsterdam, Norway and others. This print originates from 'Blätter fürcostumekunde. Historical and folk costumes based on authentic sources. Engraved in steel by various artists'. Artists and Engravers: Franz von Lipperheide was a trained bookseller. In Berlin, he first worked in a fashion publishing house, which brought out the fashion magazine Bazar. There he met his first wife Frieda Gestefeld. In 1865 he founded the publishing house Franz Lipperheide in Berlin and began publishing the fashion magazine Modenwelt whose leadership later took over his wife. The magazine had great success, it even followed spending abroad. Expanded to an entertainment section, the magazine appeared in 1874 as a women’s magazine. Condition: Fair/good, age-related toning and some soiling. Minor wear, blank verso. Please study image carefully. Date: circa 1875 Overall size: 24 x 37.5 cm. Image size: 21 x 31 cm.
