Antique print titled 'Agatopoli - a Port in the Black Sea'. Old print of Agatopoli, a port in the Black Sea.
Agatopoli, identified today with the city of Ahtopol in Bulgaria, was an episcopal see of the Roman province of the Hemimont in the civil diocese of Thrace. It was part of the Patriarchate of Constantinople and was suffragan of the Archdiocese of Adrianople.
Today Agatopoli survives as the titular episcopal seat; currently the seat is vacant.
