About the Item

Antique print titled 'Groeninga'. View of the city of Groningen, the Netherlands. This map originates from 'Cosmographia' published by Münster. Artists and Engravers: Sebastian Münster (1488-1552) was a cosmographer and professor of Hebrew who taught at Tübingen, Heidelberg, and Basel. He settled in the latter in 1529 and died there, of plague, in 1552. Münster made himself the center of a large network of scholars from whom he obtained geographic descriptions, maps, and directions. Condition: Good, general age-related toning. Minor wear. Passe-partout/matting included. Please study image carefully. Date: c.1600 Overall size: 27.5 x 40 cm. Antique prints have long been appreciated for both their aesthetic and investment value.
