About the Item

Antique print titled 'Naturels de la Nouvelle-Guinée'. Original old print with natives of New Guinea. This print originates from 'Voyage autour du monde exécuté par ordre du roi, sur la corvette de Sa Majesté, La Coquille, pendant les années 1822, 1823, 1824 et 1825' by Louis Isidore Duperrey. Duperrey (1786-1865) was a French marine hydrographer, and the commander of the 'Coquille' during its voyage (1822-1825) to Chile, Peru, Polynesia, the Molucca Islands (Indonesia), New Ireland (Papua New Guinea) and Australia.
