The antique print titled ‘Histoire Sainte, Ancien Testament, Absalon’ depicts a scene from the Old Testament, specifically the story of Absalom. Absalom was a figure from the Bible, known as the son of King David and known for his rebellion against his father. This print is part of a rare set of plates that illustrate scenes from both the Old Testament and the New Testament. The scenes are primarily based on various books from the Old Testament, including Genesis, Exodus, Judges, Samuel, and Kings, among others. The set was published in Paris by Dezobry et E. Magdeleine, with lithography by Becquet freres, around the year 1840. These plates provided visual representations of biblical stories for readers and viewers during that time.
