About the Item

Original antique engraving depicting the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, one of the world's most renowned opera houses. This finely detailed scene captures the neoclassical façade of La Scala, bustling with 19th-century urban life-horse-drawn carriages, elegantly dressed figures, and the architectural rhythm of the surrounding buildings. The engraving features the artist's signature "Rapp. del." and was published in 1834 by publisher Audot. a notable Parisian publisher of the time. Printed in Paris, as indicated on the original label affixed to the back, the work belongs to a refined tradition of European urban vedute and topographical prints. N. 239-. Frame made by Grassi Milano Medium: Etching (engraving), hand-colored. Date: 1834 Publisher: audot publisher. Paris Provenance: Paris, with authenticity label from the Stamperia di Brera (Milan). Condition: Very good vintage condition. The print is mounted with a double mat (light green and cream), preserved under glass in a custom frame. Minor signs of aging consistent with the period. The measurements indicated are with the frame.
