For your consideration, is a hand signed lithograph by Italian artist René Gruau, a famous fashion illustrator in the 1940s and 1950s. In excellent condition. The dimensions are 28.5" H x 21" W unframed.
Gruau was part of the Modern Fashion movement. Elegance. Refinement. Flair. This is what you will find with the artworks by world famous artist and fashion illustrator, René Gruau. In the 1940s and 1950s, he created the visual art interpretation to Christian Dior's "New Look” and brought the art of fashion illustration to new "belle epoque.” Using bold, stark lines and vivid colors, Gruau's artworks are classic and timeless, frequently compared to Toulouse-Lautrec. In his lifetime, he was recognized and commended in some of the most prestigious art museums in Europe, including the Louvre.

René Gruau
René Gruau, an Italian-born artist who made his name in Paris and New York as an illustrator for fashion houses, women's magazines, nightclubs and ballet companies. René Gruau astounds us simply by the immensity of his work, his modernity, his simplicity and his utter elegance. He is a virtuoso performer of the greatest names in fashion, the most prestigious brands, the most colourful shows. but the artist has the elegance to stay behind his works. His talent and his highly personal style shine through... In the 1990's there were exhibitions of his work in Germany, Japan, Monaco and France. The largest retrospective was organized by the Advertising Museum in Paris in 1999. It was called, simply, ''Passionately Gruau.''
