The print was engraved after a drawing by A. C. Warren and published by Cassell, Petter
Galpin, London. Cassell’s illustrated city views were produced for an international audience and offered European readers a visual introduction to important North American cities. This Detroit view reflects 19th-century fascination with expanding American urban centers and their strategic locations along major waterways.

A dark walnut, black, or antiqued gilt frame with a wide off-white mat will complement the serene harbor scene. A double mat with a subtle darker inner line enhances depth and lends a museum-style presentation.
