The brand’s most famous bag, the Chanel 2.55, was introduced in 1955 and is characterized by its quilted leather look and signature chain straps. Since the death of Coco Chanel in 1971, Karl Lagerfeld led the fashion house into the modern era until his death in 2019. Lagerfeld built on Coco Chanel’s legacy by reinterpreting classic elements such as the tweed jackets or the Chanel suit, but always preserving the brand’s DNA. Today, Chanel is synonymous with style, exclusivity and sophistication and attracts fashion enthusiasts from all over the world. Chanel is also a symbol of female emancipation. With her designs, Coco Chanel questioned the traditional role of women in society and opened up new paths for fashion and women. Her influence on fashion and cultural history is immeasurable and will continue to endure in the future.
