About the Item

Early 19th Century French engraved and hand coloured botanical studies. Including Belladonna, Datura, Digitalis and Poppy from 'Phytography médicale, histoire des substances héroiques et des poisons tirés du règne vegetal, 1835 Medical Phytography'. A history of powerful substances and poisons from the plant kingdom by the eminent botanist and medical doctor Joseph R. Roques (1772–1850). Engraving by Edouard Hocquart. Presented in stained ash box frames, each with nine compartments. Two available, priced individually.
