This finely detailed black and white wood engraving is by renowned British artist John Buckland Wright created for an edition of the Rubaiyát of Omar Khayyam.The scene depicts two robed figures in a stylized mountainous landscape, seated by a flowing stream-evoking themes of reflection, nature and poetry the composition features Wright's signature fine linework and intricate cross hatching, with a visible monogram “JBW” at the bottom right.
The verso bears a handwritten note stating that this engraving was later purchased by Eliz W. Diamond for use as a bookplate The piece remains in its original frame with aged matting, contributing to its period character An excellent collector's piece linking literacy and visual art.Ready to hang and ideal for collectors of fine prints, literary ilustration or md 20th-century-book art.
