The image shows two orientally inspired figures in an intimate embrace – a nude female and a figure dressed in a richly patterned costume, surrounded by cloud- and plant-like ornamentation. The fine lines and dreamlike atmosphere are characteristic of Henning’s graphic work from the 1910s, where he masterfully combined sensuality, elegance, and fantasy.
