About the Item
Born in 1937 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Télémaque moved to New York in 1957 and entered an art scene dominated by Abstract Expressionism. In 1961, he settled permanently in Paris, where he frequented the Surrealists and later co-founded the Figuration Narrative movement in France with other artists. In response to the dominant trend of abstract art and the development of the Pop art movement in North America, Télémaque's Figuration Narrative often resulted in works with a Pop sensibility that incorporated objects and signs of consumption.
This original lithograph by Hervé Télémaque, dated 1974, reflects the artist’s distinctive visual language, blending poetic symbolism with political and cultural references. A strong example of Télémaque’s graphic work from the 1970s, suitable for both collectors and contemporary art interiors.
