A beautiful work by famed Japanese artist Kaoru Kawano who was known for his whimsical portrayals of women, children, and animals. Stylistically, he was one of the first Japanese artists to combine Western-style elements with the traditional methods of woodblock printmaking. Nicely framed circa 1960's. with rattan style frame mated. with glass protection.

Kaoru Kawano
Kaoru Kawano was a woodblock print artist who worked during the Showa period (1926-1989). Born in Hokkaido in 1916, Kawano studied at Kawabata Art School during the 1930s. He gained an international reputation through successfulsolo exhibitions in North America and elsewhere.
