About the Item
Six impressive full page colored chromolithographic plates of monumental art in Italy. Published in 1883. These are large-folio seized in a clamshell portfolio and include the 16 leaves of text.
Title: KÖHLER, H. Polychrome Meisterwerke der monumentalen Kunst in Italien vom V. bis XVI. Jh. . Lpz., 1883. (16) lvs., includes title page, loose as issued, and 6 full-paged colored chromolithographic on captioned mounts. Large Folio In original clamshell portfolio (Lower flap detached, foot of binding discolored as a result of water staining, some minor stenciling visible on surface of first plate, but in all in good condition). More images on request.
The 6 plates depict: San Giovanni in Fonte, Battistero in Ravenna; San Miniato presso Firenze; Capella Palatina in Palermo; Il Duomo di Orvieto; La Libreria in Siena; Camera della Segnatura stanza dipinta da Rafaele nel Vaticano in Roma. Texts in German, English, French and Italian.
