About the Item
An outstanding, color lithograph, titled “Laura #2” from 1950s and annotated 76/200, signed by American artist Irving Amen. The dimensions are 28″H x 22″W framed. In excellent condition. Amen (1918-2011) is known as one of the most important printmakers in the United States. His deep love for mankind and hopeful attitude towards life emanates powerfully from his work. His universal appeal has brought him the broadest audience. Born in New York City, he began drawing at the age of four. A scholarship to the Pratt Institute was awarded to him when he was fourteen years old. With Michelangelo as his idol, he spent seven years in life classes perfecting his drawing. He served with the Armed Forces, 1942 – 1945. He headed a mural project and executed murals in the United States and Belgium. His first exhibition in woodcut was held at the New School for Social Research and his second at the Smithsonian Institute in 1949.

Irving Amen Signed Mid-Century Modern Framed Color Woodcut Print Susan
By Irving Amen
Located in Studio City, CA
A wonderfully designed and richly colored woodcut image by New York City/American-born Jewish artist Irving Amen.
Pencil signed, titled (Susan), and noted "artist proof" (likely a small edition after the initial run of 50-100 prints) by the artist.
Would be a great eye-catching work in about any setting.
