Each panel highlights a different style of illuminated ornamentation found in manuscripts, textiles, and architectural embellishments during the Gothic period. At the center, a striking composition of intertwined acanthus leaves reveals a lush forest of flowering vines, pods, and delicate songbirds set against a rich lapis-blue background. Surrounding this are various panels of repeating patterns—floral diamonds, trailing vines, and stylized blossoms—all exemplifying the medieval ideal of nature as divine order. A border panel on the right features a long vertical strip of floral scrollwork, from which a heron-like bird gracefully peers.
