Mid 20th Century SS NIEUW AMSTERDAM of the Holland-America Line at New York print on board. Images like this were used in Travel Agencies in the mid 20th Century to promote luxury cruise lines.
The SS Nieuw Amsterdam was a Dutch ocean liner built in 1938
for the Holland America Line. She was known for her luxurious
accommodations and modern design, and was considered one
of the most beautiful ships of her time.
She served primarily on the transatlantic route between Europe
and New York. During World War II, she served as a troop
transport.
After the war, she was refitted and continued to sail as a
passenger liner until 1974. This is a great piece of history in good condition only has a couple of marks shown in the photos.
