Zonen Amsterdam as part of the publication 'Nederlandsche Kleederdrachten naar de natuur' (Dutch folk costume, illustrated using real-life models) by Valentyn Bing.
'Beugelen' is a popular sport in which a heavy sphere is moved with a wooden shovel or sledge. The object is to roll the orb through the ring in the center of the track. This sport is practiced in Belgian and Dutch Limburg and North Brabant (Netherlands). It is one of the oldest ball sports in the Netherlands.
Artists and Engravers: The plate was drawn by Jan Braet von Uberfeldt, the lithograph printed by R. de Vries. Jan Braet von Uberfeldt (1807-1894) was a Dutch painting master, artist and lithograph. Piet Mondriaan was a student of Braet von Uberfeldt.
Condition: Good, given age. A few spots in the margins. Faint ghosting around the image from previous matting. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study image carefully.

Rare 18th century Dutch golf engraving by Jacques-Philippe Lebas depicting Dutchman playing the early form of golf on the ice. The Kolf engraving is entitled 'Vuë De Santvliet Village De Hollande' (View Of Santvliet Village From Holland). The scene shows a group of four Dutch gentlemen in the foreground playing kolf, the forerunner of golf. There are people skating on the ice and a gentleman can be seen kneeling whilst fitting on his ice skates. Paintings of life on the frozen waterways of Holland were very popular and many artists, usually known for painting rivers or landscapes, produced them.
