Antique print titled 'Huum Opp. Condrusorum Caput (..)'. Attractive bird’s eye view of Huy in present day Belgium. The view shows the city from the northeast. Huy, a municipality of Belgium, lies on the River Meuse in the province of Liege. The Gothic collegiate church of Notre-Dame, a landmark of the town since its completion in 1536, stands tall towards the center, labeled "2" from the legend at top right. Other buildings are featured, including the Royal Citadel and several other churches. The Huy coat of arms is depicted at top left.
This print originates from 'Civitates Orbis Terrarum, ...' Part 2. Köln, 1575-1612. The Civitates Orbis Terrarum, or the "Braun
Hogenberg", is a six-volume town atlas and the most excellent book of town views and plans ever published: 363 engravings, sometimes beautifully coloured. It was one of the best-selling works in the last quarter of the 16th century.
