Antique print titled 'Rumor Erat in Casa'. Etching on chine collé after the painting by Cornelis Troost. It shows a group of drunken men sitting at the dinner table. A man stands on a chair and throws his glass in the air. Another sleeping with his head on the table. Part of a series of masterprints published circa 1850.
Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Tieleman Cato Bruining’ after ‘Cornelis Troost’. Tieleman Cato Bruining (1807-1877) was a Dutch painter, lithographer and book illustrator. Cornelis Troost (1696-1750) was an 18th century actor and painter from Amsterdam. He is mainly remembered for his works depicting the Amsterdam Theatre, as well as making theatre decorations.
Condition: Fair/good, image trimmed. Minor wear, strong toning. Blank verso. Please study image carefully.
