About the Item
A wonderfully imagined, boldly colored lithograph by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) features an ornately dressed Baroque woman, likely Spanish, with her hand on the back of a tall arm chair. He colorful dress brightens the darkened interior.
The original work was created by Picasso in 1959. This restrike lithograph was published in 1961 by Harry N. Abrams.
Reference: From "Toros y Toreros" book by Luis Miguel Dominguín published in 1961
Signed in the plate at the lower left.

José Luis Cuevas was a prominent member of the Generación de la Ruptura (Breakaway Generation), who first challenged the then dominant Mexican muralism movement. He remains a distinguished and controversial artist who is known for depicting the darker side of life and the debasement of the human society with often shocking images. He is also known for being an advocate against creating art purely for commercial gain.
