At its center, a dark, petal-like form is encircled by a radiant red aura, glowing with an almost electric intensity. This organic shape floats against a background densely populated with meticulously inked circular motifs, resembling cellular or cosmic structures. This artwork exemplifies VerBurg’s ability to merge spontaneous energy with precise mark-making in a compelling abstract narrative. From a private collection; acquired directly from the artist. Paul VerBurg is a multidisciplinary artist trained in drawing and painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Now based in Okemos, Michigan, VerBurg explores sculpture, assemblage, and abstract painting rooted in natural and physical forms. His work—ranging from plein air landscapes to genre-blending abstractions—has been exhibited nationally at institutions including the Eiteljorg Museum and the Autry Museum, and featured in Southwest Art and Art of the West. Active since the 1980s, his practice reflects a continual evolution of media and subject.
