Set of 14 illustrations, lithograph and photo-lithograph, each 46.5 x 34.5 cm. /18.3 x 13.6 inches, edition 120, the last illustration is signed and numbered [Mario Merz, 77/120], 1989
A set of 14 lithographs in colors, 1979-89, on wove paper, with justification, one plate signed, from the edition of 120 (there was also an edition of 30 numbered with Roman numerals), published by Marco Noire, Turin, the full sheets, each apparently in very good condition, unexamined out of the frames, the original cloth-covered boards have been lost.

The exhibit “Arte Povera” curated by Ingvild Goetz at the Hausser
Wirth Gallery celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Italian artistic movement. Curator Germano Celant came up with the name “Arte Povera” which translates to “Poor Art”. Although the artists in the group had different practices, they were united in their rejection of the commercial leanings of Western art and chose to use everyday or “poor” materials in there work. Although a number of the artists made mathematically influenced work, Mario Merz offers the most direct connections. Merz created a large body of work over many years based on the Fibonacci Sequence.
