This is a signed color photolithograph by Cecil Aldin, depicting the English golf course Royal North Devon at Westward Ho!. The photolithograph depicts golfers on the course’s sixth green. Royal North Devon at Westward Ho! can rightly claim to be the cradle of English golf. Founded in 1864, it is the oldest golf course in the country. The golf course is located in Northam Burrows, between Northam and Westward Ho!, England. This print was printed and published in 1922 by Eyre & Spottiswoode, Ltd, in London. Aldrin signed the print in pencil in the bottom left margin. Cecil Aldin (1870 - 1935) was a prolific painter. Not only did he paint the golfing scenes, he also painted his dogs and scenes of hunting and racing. Aldin was the Master of the South Berkshire Hunt and was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1898.
