About the Item
A stylish Art Nouveau North American framed chromolithograph by the renowned Taber Prang Art Co dating from around 1904.
The company operated out of Springfield, MA and had a reputation as one of the best producers and publishers of art during the 19th and early 20th Century. Sadly the company went bankrupt in 1938 with all the rights bought by the Ohio Art Company.
This rectangular chromolithograph depicts an elderly couple looking out though their partly drawn curtains, whilst the elderly man points at a passing soldier. A framed verse to the center of the artwork is from the American poet Joaquin Miller, (Cincinnatus Heine Miller) who was also nicknamed 'The Poet of the Sierras'. The colored print is set within a period hand crafted oak frame with copper studs applied to the four corners. The chromolithograph bears a printed makers mark to the lower edge.
