About the Item
Willi Moegle – Arzberg Porcelain Teapots and Cups, ca. 1960
The overzize photograph shows an arrangement of teapots and porcelain cups viewed from above, capturing the geometric precision and formal clarity of industrial production at the Arzberg porcelain factory in the 1960s. Created by Willi Moegle (1897–1989), a leading figure of postwar German object photography, this image exemplifies his distinctive style—objective, minimalist, and meticulously composed. The print was presented in 1968 to Emil Geissenhoehner, longtime director at Arzberg, on the occasion of his retirement. From the estate of Emil Geissenhoehner. Original silver gelatin print on Agfa Lupex paper. Framed behind glass.
Moegle’s work for companies such as Arzberg, Jenaer Glas, and Schönwald shaped the visual identity of German industrial design. In 1978, he received the David Octavius Hill Medal for his outstanding contribution to photography.
