About the Item

Worcester Porcelain Dish Design with Turquoise Border, Gold Decor, 1910 This original chromolithograph illustrates a Worcester porcelain dish design distinguished by its refined turquoise border and delicate gilded ornament. Shown in full plan view, the plate allows the harmony between colour, form, and surface decoration to be appreciated as a complete design. NOTE: The print is offered unframed, giving flexibility to select a frame that best suits the intended interior. The attached image of the print in a frame is an impression only. The softly coloured turquoise border frames the dish with elegance, enriched by fine gold detailing that defines the scalloped rim and ornamental divisions. Within, floral and decorative motifs are arranged with restraint, giving the composition a light and balanced appearance well suited to table services intended for refined domestic settings. The contrast between the cool turquoise ground and the warm gold highlights is particularly effective, lending the design both freshness and sophistication. The chromolithographic technique captures subtle tonal variations and the gentle sheen of gilding, conveying the luxurious finish of the original porcelain. This print originates from Worcester Porcelain: A Description of the Ware from the Wall Period to the Present Day by R. L. Hobson, published in London by Bernard Quaritch in 1910. It was drawn by J. H. Thorpe and printed by W. Griggs Sons, noted for their high standards of colour printing. Condition: Very good condition, with light, even age toning. Colours remain fresh and well preserved. Minor handling marks at the margins. Plate mark visible. Framing tips: Frame with a generous ivory mat and a dark walnut or light ebonised frame to emphasize the turquoise border and gold detailing. Technique: Chromolithography Maker: J. H. Thorpe, London, 1910
