About the Item

Antique English Gothic Revival Wall Shelf Carved Oak Hanging Display Rack c1880. Direct from England, a superb and richly carved oak Gothic Revival wall shelf with a bold architectural presence and dramatic sculptural detail. The shelf features three open tiers with hand-carved scalloped edges and scrolling brackets. A standout detail is the carved crest panel at the top, centered with a dimensional carved mask, repeated in the carved apron under each shelf, each having its own mask. The shelves increase in depth toward the bottom, providing more substantial display on the lower tiers. With its compact scale and shallow depth, this stunning shelf is especially versatile for use in a kitchen, hallway, library, or dining room! Perfect to display majolica and oyster plates or any cherished collectibles. Quality throughout, hand carved and finely made in solid oak, circa 1880. Measurements: 30.75” H x 28.75” W x 7” D. Shelf depth, top shelf, 4.25”; middle shelf, 5.25”; lower shelf 6.25”. NOTE: All of our antiques are direct from Europe. I personally select each item for its quality, design, and unique characteristics-hallmarks you will always find in our distinctive inventory at Geaux Vintage Antiques. …” with all that, why ‘Geaux’ anywhere else?” …
