Vittorio Introini for Saporiti, multifunctional wall unit, black lacquered ash, chrome and white fabric, Italy, 1980s.
Rare multifunctional wall unit designed by the Italian designer Vittorio Introini. Its most outstanding feature is the option to create a dining set due to the extendable table and white upholstered chairs. Clearly, functionality plays a major role in this wall unit's design. In addition, this item consists of several square cases of which the upper cupboard are provided with four glass doors. The four outer shelves create a playful contrast with the solid interior. Chrome details such as the table legs, door handles and the key ends on the chair's back, which are characteristic for Introini's designs, make a beautiful addition to the black exterior. The honesty of construction and the texture of the high polished black lacquered ash panels make this long wall-unit a truly unique piece to store and showcase your valued belongings.
Vittorio Introini (born 1935) was an Italian Post-war designer. He started designing furniture around the 1960s, being mostly inspired to create international and antihistorical artworks. Moreover, the importance of spatiality and architectural elements is well represented in the work of Introini. These features are also visible in this sideboard. The designer’s ambition to create an international and avant-garde style was eventually possible when he was able to collaborate with Saporiti Company.
Please note that this item is in good, used condition and shows some minor signs of age and wear such as some loss of lacquer. Restoration can be done before shipping by our experienced craftsmen and -women in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece contains its value and is ready for the many years to come.
