1082 - These antique wall tapestries were hand woven in France, circa 1850. Called "Portière", the Portière tapestries are tall, slender wall hangings that hung on either side of the elegant doorways of French castles and palaces of centuries past, they are unique in that they are designed to fill tight wall spaces. Very versatile, they can be hung on either side of a window or a door, in a hallway, or even above a landing or a staircase!
