About the Item

1820 Large Framed English Sampler by Mary Leak. A naively yet grandly conceived work of flowers, trees, animals a verse of warning. The central 8-sided cartouche remains from 18th century design, filled with stags angels. Finished November 22, 1820. In a bold deal mortise tenon frame with ebonized liner, the from once mahogany veneered and dating c.1830-40. Framed: 26" h. x 27.25" x 2" d.
