About the Item

An 18th-century handwoven Aubusson tapestry depicting a verdant woodland in rich, moody tones. Dappled foliage cascades across the scene, rendered in deep indigos, mossy greens, and golden ochres—a pastoral dream suspended in time. A florid border of scrolling acanthus and fruiting vines frames the composition, evoking the grandeur of French decorative arts at their height. A rare surviving example of monumental textile artistry—romantic, immersive, and steeped in history. Nearly mural scale, it acts as a soft architectural anchor, infusing the room with warmth and presence. Condition: In great condition, with a few areas of light wear and fraying, as shown in photos. Minor tears along the backside. Hooks present along the backside for hanging.
