Antique indigo Boro textile, probably used as rug estimate from the size
condition.
in Japanese culture, everyone take off their shoes at the entrance, and sit down directly on the floor (usually with tatami mat) or using flat cushions on it. And especially in winter, they put the rugs on the floor for extra warmth. So the cleanness of the rugs are more close to the sofa / bed covers.
3 to 4 layers of cotton / linen clothes are patched
quilted.
These antique textile pieces are probably from older Kimono's, including hand-woven, indigo-dyed cotton
linen clothes, some of them can be older than 1900s. Kasuri (Japanese Ikat), Shima (stripes).
We can see full of warm, handmade -ish, "just for using at home" feelings from this Boro blanket / rug, this essence is also one side of Wabi Sabi.
this is the result of hard work by ordinary mom or grandma of that time.
