Questo arazzo figurativo in pura lana 305 cm. x 101 cm., è un’opera di grande impatto visivo e cromatico. Si tratta di un raro tessuto murale figurativo che rappresenta un volto femminile stilizzato, interamente lavorato a mano. L’opera combina toni caldi – come rossi, aranci, ocra e rosa – con contrasti freddi di grigio, viola e blu, creando un equilibrio tra energia e calma. L’arazzo “Frau Elwig” è un’opera tessile contemporanea realizzata negli anni Settanta dall’artista tedesco D. Petry Wandres. Proveniente dalla Germania, unisce la tradizione artigianale della tessitura a un linguaggio artistico tipico del design e dell’arte del XX secolo. L’opera, il cui titolo si traduce in italiano come “Signora Elwig”, raffigura una figura femminile stilizzata, creata attraverso l’uso di forme geometriche e colori sobri o terrosi, caratteristici delle produzioni tessili tedesche di quel periodo. L’arazzo è tessuto con grande cura nei dettagli e rappresenta un perfetto equilibrio tra arte decorativa e arte visiva. Questo tipo di manufatto non è solo un elemento decorativo, ma anche un pezzo da collezione raro, espressione dell’arte tessile contemporanea tedesca degli anni ’70, in cui si fondevano influenze moderniste e riferimenti alla tradizione medievale del tessuto figurativo. La figura centrale domina la composizione con uno sguardo enigmatico e contemplativo; i tratti del volto si fondono con motivi ornamentali e forme simboliche che sembrano raccontare una storia interiore.
