About the Item
Magnificent French original 18th century tapestry "Verdure" (foliage) with wonderful shades of predominantly green framed by a decorative border. The scene is a forrest with a lake, with a bird in the foreground and one in a tree and a castle in the background. This beautiful tapestry is made by the manufacturer Felletin, who became supplier to the Royal French Court in 1689. The tapestry is signed M-R-DE-FT which stands for Manufacture Royale de Felletin. The colors on this woven wool tapestry are very well preserved and it is in extremely good condition and has later been backed with fabric and a velcro strip has also been added on the back so it is easily mounted on the wall. A truly stunning piece.
